Assimilation of NEXRAD 88D radial wind data into the EDAS 2. Assimilation of GOES cloud-top pressure data into the EDAS 3. Assimilation of merged Stage II/IV precipitation analyses throughout most of the US into the EDAS 4. Cycling of new cloud microphysical fields in the EDAS 5. Changes in radiation and cloud optical properties 6. Posting of more cloud fields Those interested can read a more detailed description of the changes, as well as links to web pages providing preliminary results and performance statistics, at http://wwwt.emc.ncep.noaa.gov/mmb/mmbpll/paralog/paralog.etax.cloudrad.html . We would very much like to get some subjective feedback from users regarding the quality of the guidance provided by the 12-km Eta parallel (ETAX).. Ideally we would get it from every NWS region and NCEP service center. We will take whatever you can provide us. Forecasts products can be viewed on the web at http://wwwt.emc.ncep.noaa.gov/mmb/mmbpll/etapllsup12.etax/. Note that several new cloud fields have been added to the page for your review. GRIB files from the ETAX parallel are available for anonymous ftp download in ftp://ftpprd.ncep.noaa.gov/pub/emc/mmb/mmbpll/ in directories named etax.t00z, etax.t12z. Broken out BUFR soundings are in subdirectories "etaz.t00z/bufr" and etax.t12z/bufr" We understand that you have busy schedules and that your time is limited, however, your comments are appreciated by us and are indispensable to your fellow forecasters since they will be incorporated in the Technical Procedures Bulletin.
