You should receive your new copy this week. The new WES1.3 contains: -AWIPS OB2 -a cost-free and Informix free version of WES and AWIPS -an easy to use scripting language to support popping up non-awips data during a simulation -and more With the Informix-free version of WES, you can now install this version on multiple government machines. Non-government collaborators can also request WES1.3 cost-free, but the distribution needs to be handled by Bob Rozumalski at COMET. The current WES support structure is not available to those outside the NWS; however, this does not prevent you from collaborating with groups outside the NWS. If you want to share data outside the NWS you will need to remove the lightning data for proprietary reasons. The cover letter included with the cd will provide some background on WES1.3, but you can preview what's new by going to the WES webpage: http://strc.comet.ucar.edu/wes/index.htm and selecting "What's new for WES1.3". For the next WES release (WES2.0), we are working on getting FFMP capabilities into WES. We are planning for a December or January release for that if everything goes well. Mike -- Michael A.
