Subject: NWA EJOM articles on Derecho and Fog; NWA Digest From: Jeff Craven Date: Thu, 03 Aug 2006 12:53:32 -0500 To: allsoos@comet.ucar.edu Hello all: We are having another good year with the NWA Electronic Journal of Operational Meteorology (EJOM). After a banner year with 10 manuscripts in 2005, we have 5 articles published so far this year with several more currently under review. New articles in 2006 that may be of interest include: 2006-EJ5 [PDF] NEW! (8-1-2006) The 1 June 2004 North Texas Derecho: A Case Study By Ted Best and Dan Dixon 2006-EJ3 [PDF] NEW! (7-29-2006) Performance of Satellite Fog Detection Techniques With Major, Fog-related Highway Accidents By Gary P. Ellrod and Scott Lindstrom http://www.nwas.org/ej/index.html We have also put a strong emphasis on PDF format so that they are easier to print for those that like paper copies. On a related note, the NWA Council hired Steve Harned within the past 6 months (former NWA President and RDU MIC) as technical editor of the NWA Digest. He has recently worked with Kevin Lavin and published a NWA Digest. Another volume is at the printers and should be out in the next couple of months. Just wanted to remind you of the NWA EJOM and Digest as viable options in operational meteorology to share science. Please encourage your staffs to join the National Weather Association and consider either journal as a medium for publication of research or case studies. See you in Cleveland at the NWA Annual Meeting in October! Thanks, JPC (SOO MKX)
