Subject: Modsnd 5.0, THE "Killer App", is now available Modsnd 5.0, THE "Killer App", is now available From: Robert Rozumalski Date: Tue, 13 Mar 2007 12:43:45 -0600 Greetings All, I have just released the much anticipated, much improved, and almost perfect Modsnd 5.0 package, which can be found on the SOO/STRC server: http://soostrc.comet.ucar.edu/soo/modsnd and on the SOO/STRC web site: http://strc.comet.ucar.edu/modsnd Here are just a few of the enhancements: The Modsnd package script has been completely rewritten to make it more efficient and to provide functionality that was either missing or not working in earlier versions. Enhancements, features, functionality, and new bugs in version 5.0 include, but are not limited to: i. Command line options are now more intuitive. ii. The ability to download BUFR files via http has been integrated into get_bufr.pl. iii. More robust downloading options. You may now specify any or all methods of BUFR file download (ftp, http, nfs) in order to obtain those station files that you deserve. iv. Uploading of processed files to other servers may be accomplished via ftp, copy, secure copy (scp), and secure ftp (sftp). v. Modsnd 5.0 is NAWIPS FREE - NAWIPS is not needed on your system to run create BUFKIT files. vii. Users can now ftp BUFKIT files to as many remote locations as they like. This "friends and family" option is described in the various _bufrinfo.conf files. viii. More dynamic personal pronouns - Ya Baby! Also, the SOO/STRC server now supports a ONE MONTH on-line archive of both GFS and NAM bufr files, accessible via both ftp and http. Simply point the get_bufr.pl script to STRC and grab the data sets no longer available on the operational data servers. Let me know if you have any questions. Bob -- Robert A.
