WRF EMS Update : STRCWRF_U02010202c Release Date : 03 August 2006 Release Information: MAJOR BUG FIXES NONE - Yippie! MINOR BUG FIXES - WRF_PREP.PL 2. Incorrect initialization date requested by wrf_prep.pl. An incorrect date (usually from the next day) would be requested by wrf_prep.pl when the 00-hour of the model run was 00Z for the next day. For example, if a user attempted to initialized a simulation from the 6-hour forecast of a 18Z run, wrf_prep.pl would request the 18Z data from the next day and not the current day. Other related problems for users ahead of GMT. 3. Fixed bug when requesting a personal tile via http from the NOMADS servers that was causing failure. WRF EMS ENHANCEMENTS 1. More emphasis on punctuation!. WRF_PREP.PL 1. Secure Copy (SCP) now available for wrf_prep.pl In addition to the regular copy command (cp) users may now use scp when obtaining initialization files from a local source. See "wrf_prep --guide" and the updated _gribinfo.conf files for more information. WRF_RUN.PL 1. Updated some of the configuration files with support documentation. WRF_POST.PL 2. Support for creation of individual GEMPAK files has been added. The wrf_post.pl routine now support the creation of individual gempak files for each forecast time (MONOLITHIC = No in post_gempak.conf). 3. The wrf_post.pl routine now supports the synchronous generation of WRF BUFR and BUFKIT files. Previously, BUFR and BUFKIT files were overwritten each time a forecast files was processed then the wrf_autopost option was used. 4. The wrf_post.pl routine now supports the synchronous generation of GIF images with NAWIPS and the POSTSCR option in post_gempak.conf file. Users may also select the domain(s) to process when running 2-way nesting with the ARW core. - A Warren Snyder request. 5. Modified the gempak gif generation scripts in wrf/util/gempak/scripts to accept the domain number. 6. The wrf_post.pl routine now supports the synchronous processing of GrADS files. OTHER STUFF 1. Recompiled most binaries with current version of PGI compiler (6.1-6). Updated distributed memory binaries were compiled with RSL_LITE libraries. Previous releases were compiled with RSL libs. Users should see a slight improvement (~4%) with the distributed memory runs. 2. Users may now specify rsh rather than ssh for distributed memory runs. COMMENTS Thanks to all who made suggestions and to those who presented their complains in the form of an "issue that needed resolving asap". There are about 10 items on my "To Do" list including adding full LAPS support and fixing a problem with the polar stereographic navigation in the GUI. Hopefully the next update will be available in early October.
