Benchmarking the WRF EMS

The WRF EMS package contains two pre configured domains for you to use to benchmark you system for running either the NMM or ARW WRF cores. Running the benchmark case will also serve to verify that you have everything installed correctly on your system.

The benchmark case is a 24-hour simulation of oceanic cyclogenesis event that occurred over the Northeast US (centered over Boston, MA) during January 2005. Both the NMM and ARW core benchmarks were designed to run over similar domains consisting of 5005 horizontal grid points (NMM:55x91, ARW:77x65) and 45 vertical levels at 15km grid spacing.

Instructions for running the WRF EMS benchmark case are provided.

The ARW core benchmark results are available.

The NMM core benchmark results are available.

Upon completion of the benchmark run please send the contents of the benchmark.results file to the SOO Science and Training Resource Coordinator for inclusion in the page.
